With Fuego Futuro, Thomas De Monaco once again demonstrates what true craftsmanship in haute parfumerie means. The fragrance is an experience that captivates from the very first second through the exceptional quality of its natural raw materials. The opening is dry, smoky, and characterized by a bright, almost crackling spice – like the sparks of a campfire in a barren wilderness. The blend of elemi resin and smoked sage feels incredibly authentic, tangible, and absolutely unadulterated. On the skin, the perfume develops into a deep, meditative composition. The initial roughness gives way to a complex heart of hay absolute and mate, giving the fragrance a warm, earthy, and slightly herbaceous texture. What particularly excites me is the transition into the base: Here, the scent slowly glows out in a masterfully blended bed of cedar and sandalwood, underscored by a subtle note of ash. Fuego Futuro shares that unpolished, uncompromising soul often sought in high-end oud or pure natural compositions. It is raw and wild, but rounded off in an incredibly elegant way. For me, this is a fragrance for strong-character appearances and moments when you want to consciously stand out. The longevity is phenomenal, the scent easily survives the whole day (and often the night), and the sillage is present without overwhelming the surroundings. Anyone looking for perfumes far from the mainstream and appreciating raw, honest natural materials in their most beautiful form cannot pass by this smoky-woody masterpiece.

It is definitely of a very smoky nature. Anyone who likes that will certainly be well served. I generally like that, but after a short time, it develops a hint of smoked food from the grill on my skin, which became a bit too much for me. I also like a soft note that joins in at the latest in the heart note, but I find it missing here. In any case, it is worth at least a try.

Mate. Hay. Pepper. Cypress. Sounds wild? In a way it is, but it then develops very pleasantly on the skin and is surprisingly wearable. Especially in warmer temperatures, it is a refreshing change from the well-known fruit cocktails.
